The Salesian Domestic Volunteer program is an association of men and women
seeking to answer God's call in their own lives by dedicating themselves
to works of education, evanglism, and human development among poor American youth.
SDV's will share in the spirituality, prayer, work, family spirit, community live, and educations method
of the Salesian Family of St. John Bosco while living in community with Salesians and other long-term volunteers.
SDV's will work in various projects to provide an educational experience for your people
and as such, are committed above all to be Christian witnesses.

Length of Service
Volunteers must serve a minimum of 1-2 years, but a maximum of 3 consecutive years. Please note: this is a full-time committment. Requirements US or Canadian Citizens, between 20-35 years old, with a college degree or comparable work experience, in good mental and physical health, with a desire to grow in holiness, and a sense of humor, flexibility, and a spirit of sacrifice. Attendance at the mandatory 2-week summer orientation program. |

Financial Arrangements
Room, board, and medical insurance will br provided, ina addition to a small monthly stipend for living expenses. Volunteers will be eligible for loan deferment. Travel expenses to and from the site will be paid for by the volunteer, however upon completion of their commitment, travel will be reimbursed by the SDV program. SDV's will be eligible for an educational award from AmeriCorps upon completion of their term of service. |
